Our commitment to accessibility

Saltire Facilities Management is committed to making our website accessible and easy to use for as many people as possible.

We want everyone who visits saltire.co.uk to be able to access our information, understand our services and contact us, regardless of their individual needs or the technology they use to access the website.

We are continually working to improve the accessibility and usability of our website and aim to follow recognised accessibility standards, including the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA.

What we are doing to make our website accessible

We aim to make our website accessible by:

  • Using clear, simple and easy-to-understand language wherever possible.
  • Providing appropriate alternative text for images and other non-text content.
  • Using headings and page structures that make information easier to navigate.
  • Ensuring links and buttons have clear and meaningful descriptions.
  • Supporting keyboard navigation wherever possible.
  • Making sure text and important information have appropriate colour contrast.
  • Designing pages to work across desktop computers, tablets and mobile devices.
  • Making online forms as straightforward and accessible as possible.
  • Supporting the use of assistive technologies such as screen readers and speech-recognition software.
  • Avoiding unnecessary use of images containing text.
  • Reviewing and improving the accessibility of new content and website features.

How accessible is our website?

We aim for saltire.co.uk to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards. However, we recognise that accessibility is an ongoing process and that some parts of our website may not currently be fully accessible.

This may include:

  • Some older PDF documents that may not be fully compatible with screen- reading software.
  • Some documents or downloadable resources that were created before our current accessibility standards were introduced.
  • Third-party content, applications or services that are outside of Saltire’s direct control.
  • Some website features that may not work perfectly with every browser, device or assistive technology.

We are committed to identifying and addressing accessibility issues as they are brought to our attention and as part of our ongoing website improvements. Where information is not available in an accessible format, please contact us and we will do our best to provide the information in a suitable alternative format.

Changing the way you view our website

You may be able to make our website easier to use by changing the accessibility settings on your device or browser.

For example, you can:

  • Increase or decrease the text size.
  • Zoom in on pages.
  • Change contrast or colour settings.
  • Use your device’s built-in screen reader.
  • Use speech-to-text or text-to-speech tools.
  • Navigate using a keyboard rather than a mouse.

Most modern browsers and mobile devices include accessibility settings and assistive technology options.

Requesting information in an alternative format

If you have difficulty accessing information on our website, we will do our best to help.

If you need information in an alternative format, please contact us and, where possible, provide:

  • The web page or document you are trying to access.
  • A description of the accessibility problem.
  • The format you would prefer, such as large print or an accessible digital document.
  • Your name and contact details so that we can respond to you.

We will consider your request and work with you to provide the information in a format that meets your needs wherever reasonably possible.
